Aertight Utility Solutions

Description

Utilities need IT Systems that can handle the areas they work in, and traditional server systems that are rackmount, loud, filled with fans and mechanically spinning hard drives can be extremely unreliable. Often, the solution has been to move to completely cloud based systems housed in datacenters which are sometimes miles away, connected over WAN links. However, this can also be dangerous, since when internet access or network access is down, visibility into managed systems that are maintained  on-site can leave local operators blind to their equipment.

On top of reliability, utilities need redundancy, but redundancy can come with a serious price tag. Currently, redundant server systems involves considerable IT overhead onsite, so redundancy is typically done "inside the server" with redundant hard drives. Complete Failover server systems, in which one server can "fail over" Applications or entire Virtual Machines, has, until now, also been extraordinarily complicated and difficult to maintain.

Aertight Systems, Inc. built the Aertight™ Server Platform with utilities in mind, with the direct input from industry veterans who have decades of experience working for some of the largest utilities on the planet.

Here are some of the specific elements that the Aertight Server Platform assists engineers with:

  • The Aertight™ Server Platform is a rugged, wall mount,  fanless, nearly silent, wide temperature range, touchscreen embedded, water resistant, Microsoft Windows Server based platform that is enclosed in a 16 gauge steel enclosure, secured behind a combination lock with no externally exposed data ports. We built this system like a TANK, so we're confident it can go in areas you need to work in. The internal components include up to six SSD removable hard drives, color coded wiring, and all tool-less modular components.
  • We realize that many of your systems are air-gapped. That's why the Aertight™ Server Platform is built to pass the "Beach in Barbados" test. The "Beach in Barbados" test is Aertight's design goal to make the system so easy to troubleshoot by an on-site minimally trained operator, that the instructions to troubleshoot even major components are able to be relayed over the phone.
  • True Two Server Failover- Two Aertight Server Platforms can be combined to create a redundant failover system that allows you to build applications which can failover between the two physical platforms, while only connected via two passive ethernet cables.
